Alma de Candela (Soul of Fire) describes the passion and love for Latin music of the members.
Since 2006, the band has grown both in numbers and reputation, becoming one of the Southeast's most exciting
and original Latin bands. Alma de Candela includes four percussionists, two trumpets, two lead vocalists,
flute, guitar, and bass. Their song book is steeped in traditional Cuban folk music, 70's Nuyorican Salsa
(Fania All Stars), Latin Jazz, Bachata, Merengue, Latin Soul, and Modern Salsa.
Alma de Candela has been a featured headliner for many festivals, including The Spartanburg International
Festival (2007, 2008) and The Make-A-Wish International Wine Festival (2006, 2007, 2008).
The group brings a surprising energy to corporate parties and weddings. People of all backgrounds appreciate
the joy they bring to the music, regardless of whether they understand the words. With the addition of
optional dance lessons, they get everybody up and moving on the dancefloor! Alma de Candela has performed
at various Southeastern nightclubs including Dockers, Baracoa, The Big Chill, Bongos, Rosalinda's Fonda,
Roper's Jazz Club, The Boone Saloon, and Sonero's.
